BERLINIA

Berlinia spp.

Berlinia spp. of the family Fabaceae (syn Leguminosae) the legume, pea, or bean family; includes at least Berlinia acuminata, Berlinia auriculata, Berlinia bracteosa, Berlinia confusa, Berlinia grandiflora, and Berlinia niembaensis, and I have no idea which of them are represented on this page unless specifically listed with a pic.

my samples:

both sides of a sample plank of ebiara / Berlinia grandiflora --- HUGE enlargements are present. This sample was loaned to me by David Clark whom I thank for this and other contributions to the site. "ebiara" is one of at least 30 common names used for this species.

set of planks and a closeup --- listed as berlinia / ebiara (an alternate common name / berlinia spp. --- I suspect that the color on these pics is likely more rich than the wood actually is, OR they have been moistened for the pics

berlinia planks photographed by Michael Lempert, whom I thank for providing the pics. The first show shows the plank in the sun with wet/dry setions and the second shows it in the shade. The last shot is the edge grain. The enlargements on all these are QUITE large.
