Ozoroa reticulata of the family Anacardiaceae. Native to various areas in Southern Africa. A small tree whose wood seems to be sold only in burl form. Rare and expensive, this wood is a favorite of knife-handle makers and pen turners. Also known as African resin tree.
my samples: NOTE: these pics were all taken in very bright incandescent lighting ("soft white" at 2700K) colors will vary under other lighting conditions

burl knife scales
burl pen blanks, moistened
small turning pieces
this was listed as a burl, but at best it's a light cluster burl. Also, the color on this seems significantly different than what's normally seen (which is reddish)
burl slabs
burl slabs, both of which are about 2 feet in their long dimension
