SOLD
unknown brown burl #2 at $4.50 for the pair (16"x7" the pair) SOLD
pinkish brown burl with a figure that for a burl is very uniform and also a very uniform color

unknown brown burl #3 at $5.00 for the pair (12"x11" the pair, 1 pair available)
brown burl with a slight olive-green tint, very smooth and flat and with a very nice swirl/burl pattern, which I believe will be really striking once a moistening/finishing agent is applied. You really don't see the full beauty of this pair until the biggest enlargement

BOTH SOLD

unknown brown burl #4 at $5.00 for the pair (15"x9" the pair) SOLD

unknown brown burl #5 at $5.00 for the pair (15"x9" the pair, 1 pair available) SOLD

unknown brown burls 4, 5, and 7 are all the same wood. #6 COULD be the same wood, but I'm not sure. Pairs 4 and 5 are darker than the #7 pairs. all of #4, #5, #6 and #7 are most likely maple burls but I'm not positive

unknown brown burl #6, pairs 1, 2, and 3 at $3.50 per pair (9"x9" each pair, all 3 pairs available)
unknown brown burl #7, pairs 1, 2, and 3 at $3.50 per pair (9"x9" each pair, all 3 pairs available)
one pic of all 6 pairs and a closeup showing parts of 4 of them --- these pairs came to me already taped together and it's a pretty good job on all of them. The #7 pairs all have small repairable holes near the bottom middle (especially apparent on UBB #7, pair #3)
unknown brown burl #7, pair 4 at $2.50 per pair (12"x6" the pair, 1 pair available)

NOTE: I have now identified "unknown" brown burl #8 as madrone

unknown brown burl #8, pair #1 at $6.00 for the pair (12"x12" the pair, 1 pair available)
beautiful yellowish tan with red grain pattern

unknown brown burl #8, pairs #2, #3, and #4 at $2.50 per pair (7"x9" each pair, 1 of each pair available)
hardly looks like the same wood as pair#1 above, but I cut them both from the same sheet. This section is more like a crotch than a burl.

NOTE: I have now identified "unknown" brown burl #8 as madrone

unknown brown burl #9, pairs #1, $2.50 per pair (8"x8" each pair, 1 pair available)
unknown brown burl #9, pairs #2, $2.50 per pair (8"x8" each pair, 1 pair available)
unknown brown burl #9, pairs #3, $2.50 per pair (8"x8" each pair, 1 pair available) SOLD

pair #4 $2.50 the pair (8"x8" effective the pair, 1 pair available) SOLD

pair #5 $4.00 the pair (12"x11" the pair, 1 pair available) SOLD

unknown brown burl #10, pair #1 at $4.00 for the pair (11"x12" the pair, 1 pair available)
a couple of small holes that will need to be filled --- what you can't see, even in the enlargements, is that there are many very small holes that can only be seen if you hold the sheets up to the light.

ALL SOLD
unknown brown burl #10, pair #2 at $3.00 for the pair (10"x8" the pair, 1 pair available) SOLD
unknown brown burl #10, pair #3 at $3.00 for the pair (10"x8" the pair, 1 pair available) SOLD
unknown brown burl #10, pair #4 at $3.00 for the pair (10"x8" the pair, 1 pair available) SOLD
the first pair is bookmatched on opposite sides from the other two pairs but they should all match from any side

unknown red burl #1, piece #1 at $3.00 the piece (8"x8", 1 piece available) SOLD

unknown red burl #1, piece #2 at $3.00 the piece (8"x8", 1 piece available) SOLD
repairable split in upper right corner

unknown red burl #1, piece #3 at $2.50 the piece (9"x8", 1 piece available) SOLD
useable area is less than 9"x8" due to bad corners as shown

unknown yellow burl #2 at $2.50 the pair (12"x6" the pair, 1 pair available)
a fairly bland burl but with no discolorations and the color will come out considerably more with a finish.

NOTE: all of these are exactly the same color and that is the color of pair #1. Piece #2 shows as too yellow and piece #3 shows as too red. As I've mentioned in numerous places, I find yellow pieces to be the hardest to get the correct colors on.

unknown yellow burl #4, pair #1 at $4.00 the pair (13"x8" the pair) SOLD

unknown yellow burl #4, piece #2 at $2.00 the piece (8"x6") SOLD

unknown yellow burl #4, piece #3 at $2.00 the piece (8"x5", 1 piece available)

SOLD
unknown figured #1 at $5.00 for the pair (12"x10" the pair) SOLD
probably sapele, but I'm not positive. The figure is a very nice blister/curl and the color is very uniform. NOW IDENTIFIED AS "WATERFALL" QUILTED SAPELE.

unknown veneer #1 at $4.00 per piece (11"x10", 8 pieces available)
probably sapele, but in any case a very uniform-color strong-mottled brown veneer. The apparent lightening of the color towards the right side is purely an artifact of the light reflection.

SOLD
unknown veneer #2 at $2.50 per piece (6"x12" effective width, no longer available) SOLD
gorgeous curly greenish-brown with one poor edge (shown in the 2nd pic) that has caused me to reduce the width from the actual 7" to a stated effective 6"

NOTE: I now believe #2 to be myrtle

NOTE: I have now identified "unknown" veneer #3 as red narra

SOLD

very attractive, grainy red with cathedral grain

unknown veneer #3, pair #2 at $5.00 the pair (13"x12" the pair, 1 pair available)

very attractive, grainy red with cathedral grain; not a perfect bookmatch but both are sold as pair anyway.

unknown veneer #3, pair #4 at $4.00 the pair (10"x12" the pair, 1 pair available)
very attractive, grainy red with cathedral grain. Not a perfect bookmatch but sold as a pair anyway.

unknown veneer #3, pair #5 at $4.00 the pair (10"x12" the pair, 1 pair available)
very attractive, grainy red with cathedral grain. Not a perfect bookmatch but sold as a pair anyway.

SOLD
unknown veneer #3, piece #6 at $1.00 the piece (3"x12", 8 pieces available) SOLD
very attractive, grainy red rift cut --- beautiful contrast wood

NOTE: I have now identified "unknown" veneer #3 as red narra

a note about unknown veneer #4: This is a light-mottle figured veneer with an attractive, uniform, honey-green color. The mottle shows up very poorly on most of these pics, except for pair #9. The darker color of some pieces, especially #9 and #10, is accurate.

extremely grainy, but in an attractive way and with a nice sheen. The grain can be seen with the closeup of sheet #6. Nice redish-tan color, with what is probably sapwood along the top and bottom

unknown veneer #5, pair #5 at $4.00 the pair (13"x11" the pair, 1 pair available)
extremely grainy, but in an attractive way and with a nice sheen. The grain can be seen with the closeup of sheet #6. Nice redish-tan color, matched along what appears to be a sapwood area

unknown veneer #5, piece #6 at $2.50 the piece (10"x8", 1 piece available)
extremely grainy, but in an attractive way and with a nice sheen. The closeup shows the grain quite well but is a little too red in color

SOLD
unknown veneer #5, pair #7 at $3.00 for the one pair available (12"x7") SOLD
color is accurate

unknown veneer #6

This was sold to me as "Nigerian rosewood" but since the dealer who sold it to me is, as far as I can tell, the only person in the entire world who uses that name for a wood, I consider that to be a useless description. I would be QUITE surprized if it turned out to actually be a rosewood and it may or may not be from Nigeria. There is some resemblance between this and some forms of both cerejeira and teak, but I wouldn't bet money on it being either one. Still, it is a VERY attractive wood, whatever it is.

unknown veneer #7, piece #2 at $2.25 the piece (8"x8", 0 piece available) SOLD
don't know what it is but I wish I had more of it; very striking cathedral grain pattern somewhat like wenge except for the color. I don't think this is bleached and colored wenge but that is at least possible.

In browsing various reference works, I have come across a wood that is VERY similar to this and I THINK that's what it is, but am not positive. The wood is Amphimas spp. and goes under the common name lati (among others).

Unknown veneer #8 is quartersawn with some nice ray flakes, as is particularly well shown in the closeup with piece #1
