GUANACASTE

Enterolobium cyclocarpum

NOTE: this page should be merged with kelobra (same wood)

Enterolobium cyclocarpum of the family Leguminosae, the legume family)

Among many other names, this wood is also called perota, timbo, tamboril, and Mexican walnut

my samples:

sample plank and end grain --- this was listed as perota

planks

plank listed as tamboril --- given the apparent coarseness of the grain, I'd guess this is a closeup

planks listed as parota (note variant spelling of perota --- ah the joys of common names): based on both the color and the shine, I'd say the first one definitely is NOT a raw wood color but one that has had a finish applied.

planks listed as timbo
