when these pictures were taken, the bowl had one coat natural stain as a sealant


in the right-hand pic, the wood in front is bocote and just to the left of that is western red cedar


the wood at the front is padauk. The blotchy oval piece at the left rear is western red cedar, which is one of the few woods that sometimes degrades in appearance with the application of finishing agents. More details of that are shown on the western red cedar page.

the bottom is a little busy on this one. The dark wood on the right sandwiching the veneer stripes is dark cocobolo
